Each billet is heated up to 1200°C and hammered into shape with 1000 ton of force. This is so similar to how the Japanese samurai swords are quenched in water to obtain their strength. Air cooling from such high temperature will also cause the grains to shrink and not reach its full potential. As such, we re-heat each head again to austenite state and annealed over 72 hours in straw ash and this extra step is how we create the dense, premium and smooth feel we our renowned for.
